Super Pooper Scooper Project
Sharswood Elementary School, Philadelphia

On February 2, 2001, KAT students of room 225 walked to the Whitman Library to research various diseases found in dog feces. We also researched the pet laws found on the law books of Philadelphia. We found a lot of useful information. For one thing, we found out it is against the law to not clean up after your dog. Also you could be fined up to $300.00.

On our way back to school, we posted some signs along Second Street asking people to clean up after their dogs.

We are also graphing the piles of doggie diamonds we counted. On our first walk we saw 78 gems. On our next walk on January 19, the count went down to 48, and on February 2 we counted 23. What a great improvement. We are currently working on a video and a computer slide show to present before Whitman Council and City Council.

Check back for current updates.
